The Islands
The Philippines is an archipelago of over 7000 islands. It has 3 main regions, Luzon (in the northern part of the country), Visayas (in the middle part) and Mindanao (in the southern part). Having such a long coastline, lovely stretches of beaches can be found anywhere along these regional shorelines.
If it is a relaxing beach holiday that you are after, you will find a plethora of white sandy beaches in the Visayas Region. The most popular is the White Beach on Boracay island which is frequently visited by tourists and locals alike. Tourists also frequent the island of Palawan because of its beautiful lagoons and its dive sites that are abundant with marine life.

Manila is the capital of the country, the seat of the government and the busiest city in the Luzon Region. Here you will find the colourful jeepneys that crowd the roads of the city. There are numerous shopping malls and hotels to choose from. Luzon also boasts its own UNESCO heritage site, which are the Banaue Rice Terraces.
Having once been a Spanish colony, Catholicism has been the predominant religion for many years, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that so many churches are scattered around the country, some of which are known for their history, their unique architecture or their baroque style. Each town has its own patron saint who is celebrated every year in a local "fiesta".
Natural landscapes are also abundant, such as the Mayon Volcano, Taal Volcano, Chocolate Hills, Pagsanjan Falls and many more.

The Climate
It is best to plan your trip to the Philippines taking the weather into consideration. Since it is a tropical country, sun and rain are to be expected. December to May is considered the dry season and June to November the wet season. The months of March, April, May will be the hottest so don’t forget to bring a hat and sunscreen.
